Today marks our last day of gift week for our Advent Calendar. Amy and I decided to focus on a non-food gift item you could make from things in the pantry. My 11 year old daughter loves to come up with beauty recipes that she can make herself and a sugar scrub is always a hit. We usually end up mixing a neutral vegetable oil with brown or granulated sugar and scent it with vanilla bean. The scrubs leave our skin feeling amazing and we know exactly what has gone into them- no toxic chemicals, just all-natural goodness.
Amy’s recipe for Himalayan Pink Salt Scrub is a grown up version of this relaxing beauty product. Salt soaks and scrubs are known for their purifying and detoxifying properties. We added a beautiful scented oil, Morocco, from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab to give our scrub a luxurious, exotic scent. Poured into a beautiful jar and tied with a ribbon, the scrub makes a beautiful gift that looks like it came from a high end spa. Please be sure to check out Amy’s blog post here to read more about oil and scent options and how we made the scrub.
Himalayan Pink Salt Scrub
- 1 cup Himalayan pink salt
- 1 cup neutral oil of your choice
- a few drops essential oil
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
Process salt in spice grinder. Finely ground salt can be used in a facial scrub, so if that's your intention, really blitz it!
Mix salt together with remaining ingredients in a bowl. Adjust the amount of oil to your liking. Pour into clean jar and add ribbon and a tag for gifting.
