Homemade Limoncello is such a seemingly exotic Italian treat. Something that brings to mind sunny Tuscan fields laden with beautiful citrus trees. For me it also calls to mind my time spent in Perth, Australia. My family lived there for just over a year. Lemon trees were abundant there and lemons would fall of my neighbors’ trees and literally roll down the street. At my kids’ school pickup in the afternoon, moms who were lucky enough to have trees in their yard would show up bearing bags of the gorgeous fruit to give away. So when life gives you lemons (lots of lemons), what do you do? Why, make limoncello of course!
I found a great recipe online from The Kitchn which is nearly identical to the one I used in the past. If you can zest a lemon, you can make this. It’s not hard, just requires patience while the lemon peels steep.
Isn’t that gorgeous? Amy has a way with light. Check out her blog post here.
Have you ever made limoncello from scratch? What did you think?
